The Athena ATM Network had added Litecoin sales to its cryptocurrency roster. The company now has ATMs in the Atlanta, Georgia area that will vend the cryptocurrency.

Litecoin is one of the oldest cryptocurrencies. It was invented by Charlie Lee in 2011 and recently has neared its all-time single coin price highs, trading between $45-$50. Litecoin activated SegWit in the spring and may soon implement the LIghtning network for transactions. Its fees are typically between one and 20 cents USD and typically had faster transaction confirmation times than bitcoin.

The Athena Bitcoin Wallet is currently bitcoin-only. However, customers may use a Litecoin address (beginning with “L”) from the website or person they wish to pay directly at the ATM. Athena ATMs allow customers to purchase coins without a bank account, debit card or credit card, using just a bitcoin wallet on a smartphone.

The new Litecoin ATMs can be found on the company’s main Locations page.
