Bitcoin Barely Budges, But ETH and XRP Prices Skyrocket

Bitcoin prices continued to creep up, but the real story was the explosive growth in other digital currencies.

While bitcoin rose slightly, topping out at the $16,000 per single coin level on at least one exchange, ether and Ripple XRP continued to explode. ETH is now over the $1,000 mark, a rise of more than 13 percent, while XRP kept its recent bull run going, sitting this morning at $3.56, a gain of more than 17 percent.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin Cash was down seven percent this morning, sitting at the $2,450 mark.

The highest price seen was $16,078.50 on the ZB.COM exchange at 1:18 am today. ZB.COM saw $40,426,700 of bitcoin change hands.

The lowest price seen was $14,063.90 on Binance’s exchange at 4:12 am today. Binance’s 24 hour volume was $268,468,000.

The average price on the surveyed exchanges, as weighed by volume, was $14,841.20.

Volatility was a bit lower than average, with the BlockTribune Volatility Index coming in at 42.6. A higher number indicates greater price volatility with 50 describing an average day.

These statistics were consolidated from 13 different exchanges. It includes only BTC/USD trades and only on those exchanges that had at least 1% of the total volume of BTC/USD trades during the measurement period.
