Bitcoin Holds at $20,000 Average – Bitcoin Cash Surges

Bitcoin held at the $20,000 per single coin mark today on some exchanges, but some of the money driving the market shifted to Bitcoin Cash. That coin suddenly took flight, up more than 20 percent to $2,220 this morning.

Litecoin recovered after a brief slump, hitting the $326 mark, and Dash also held its recent gains, sitting at $1,100.

The highest price seen was $20,000.00 on the BTCC exchange at 9:18 am today. BTCC saw $400,000,000 of bitcoin change hands.

The lowest price seen was $17,123.60 on Binance’s exchange at 11:54 pm yesterday. Binance’s 24 hour volume was $198,161,000.

The average price on the surveyed exchanges, as weighed by volume, was $18,868.35.

Volatility was a bit lower than average, with the BlockTribune Volatility Index coming in at 47.8. A higher number indicates greater price volatility with 50 describing an average day.

These statistics were consolidated from 7 different exchanges. It includes only BTC/USD trades and only on those exchanges that had at least 1% of the total volume of BTC/USD trades during the measurement period.
