Bitcoin Prices Continue Rising, As ETH, Ripple XRP Also Strong

Bitcoin is clawing back to the levels reached before the pre-Christmas crash, which wiped out about 30 percent of its value. The 2018 upswing continued today, as BTC reached the $15,500 level on at least one exchange.

The big market mover continued to be Ripple XRP, now over $3 per unit. Today’s mark represents a gain of more than 28 percent over the last 24 hours, as XRP continues a rise that has seen it rise from cents per unit to today’s mark.

But Ripple XRP isn’t the only coin on the move. Ethereum is breaking out as well, hitting the $920 mark this morning, a gain of more than three percent.

Also booming is Stellar, the coin of the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation. Tthe Stellar network’s mission is to connect people to low-cost financial services to fight poverty. The goal is access to affordable payments, credit, and savings accounts. The coin has skyrocketed more than 60 percent over the last 24 hours

The highest price seen was $15,572.30 on the Kraken exchange at 2:18 am today. Kraken saw $48,645,400 of bitcoin change hands.

The lowest price seen was $13,786.30 on Huobi’s exchange at 1:06 pm yesterday. Huobi’s 24 hour volume was $116,886,000.

The average price on the surveyed exchanges, as weighed by volume, was $14,941.94.

Volatility was lower than average, with the BlockTribune Volatility Index coming in at 41.5. A higher number indicates greater price volatility with 50 describing an average day.

These statistics were consolidated from 11 different exchanges. It includes only BTC/USD trades and only on those exchanges that had at least 1% of the total volume of BTC/USD trades during the measurement period.
