Bitcoin Still Holding at $2,500 Level

The US holiday long weekend is a time to relax. So the cryptocurrency markets remained stable, with bitcoin holding at the $2,500 per single coin range that it has hovered around for the last six days.

Ethereum rallied a bit, rising to $287 as of mid-day, while Litecoin is back on the hunt, clocking in at an impressive $48, nearing its all-time high.

Ripple, Dash and Monero were all up incrementally at mid-day, also within their trading ranges of the last few days.

The highest price seen was $2,739.10 on the OkCoin Intl. exchange at 12:00 pm today. OkCoin Intl. saw $4,555,070 of bitcoin change hands.

The lowest price seen was $2,394.04 on BTC-E’s exchange at 4:54 pmyesterday. BTC-E’s 24 hour volume was $12,130,900.

The average price on the surveyed exchanges, as weighed by volume, was $2,498.11.

Volatility was a bit lower than average, with our index coming in at 46.2. A higher number indicates greater price volatility with 50 describing an average day.

These statistics were consolidated from 15 different exchanges. It includes only USD/BTC trades and only on those exchanges that had at least 1% of the total volume of USD/BTC trades during the measurement period.
