Blockchain Feature Part of New SAP System

Multinational software giant SAP is continuing its climb into the blockchain services game, announcing a new product launch at Sapphire, its annual user, partner and customer conference.

The new “Blockchain-as-a-Service” (BaaS) product will be a cloud technology that’s part of the company’s SAP Leonardo product line. The blockchain element is based on Hyperledger’s open source platform and is a fee-based service.

The SAP Cloud Platform Blockchain service enables users to build out application extensions and solutions using distributed ledger technology.

Overall, the SAP Leonardo software offerings that combine technology capabilities for blockchain, big data, machine learning, and Internet of Things connectivity, among other features. SAP users can leverage the platform to build custom solutions for their industry or business needs. It integrates with existing SAP applications and is supported by SAP Leonardo Centers will open soon in New York, Paris, Sao Paulo, Sao Leopoldo, and Bangalore.

The announcement continues SAP’s move into the cloud. The company operates in 130 countries and is based in Germany.
