Blockchain Image Sharing Coming To NBA And NHL With KodakOne And Oak View Group Partnershipbr>
WENN Digital has partnered with Oak View Group (OVG) to bring the KodakOne platform and KodakCoin token to six OVG Arena Alliance venues, including four NBA teams and two NHL teams.
In January of this year, photography giant Kodak announced its partnership with WENN Digital to create the KodakOne platform and KodakCoin, the token that will drive the platform. KodakOne is an encrypted, digital ledger of rights ownership for photographers to register both new and archive work that they can then license within the platform. The platform uses a “web-crawling” technology to detect unlicensed use of images in the KodakOne blockchain and ensure that photographers are appropriately rewarded.
Oak View Group was founded in 2015 by Tim Leiweke and Irving Azoff to be a positive disruption in sports and entertainment and currently has over 200 employees across offices in Los Angeles and New York. The company’s OVG Arena Alliance is a membership alliance of world-class venues reaching over 65 million consumers each year combined across major cities in North America.
WENN’s partnership with OVG will enable the KodakOne platform to expand its reach to over 10 million fans each year, and enable them to upload, register and protect their in-venue photos and videos via KodakOne’s blockchain technology. The participating OVG arenas and teams include: San Antonio Spurs’ AT&T Center, Indiana Pacers’ Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Sacramento Kings’ Golden 1 Center, Minnesota Wild’s Xcel Energy Center, New Jersey Devils’ Prudential Center and Phoenix Suns’ Talking Stick Resort Arena.
The six arenas will collaborate with WENN Digital to build a platform that allows fans to use KodakCoin for an array of in-venue transactions and promotions. Each venue will promote the use of the platform and token by developing a number of arena and product promotions for attendees. In addition, the arenas will also collaborate with WENN Digital to register their own video and photo content to be protected on the KodakOne platform.
Jan Denecke, CEO of WENN Digital, said that the partnership is aimed at introducing the KodakOne platform to a creative audience that they believe will both benefit from its functionality and serve as early adopters.
“The KodakOne platform is being designed specifically to enable users to upload, register and share their work, as well as be compensated for it in certain instances,” said Denecke. “Given the millions of fantastic live event photographs generated each year at OVG’s Arena Alliance venues, this was a natural place for us to start.”
Benedikt Dohnanyi, CCO of WENN Digital, said the partnership will provide “groundbreaking access to the world of sports and entertainment.”
“Through the KodakOne platform, we are creating a new way for fans to further engage with the teams and performers they follow, all while rewarding their creative drive by building an environment where their images can be securely maintained,” Dohnanyi said.
