Cloud computing company Salesforce is working on a blockchain and cryptocurrency solution.

In an interview at the TrailheaDX conference, Parker Harris, the co-founder of Salesforce, said the solution may come in time for the company’s Dreamforce conference, expected to be held in September in San Francisco.

“I hope that by [our annual conference] Dreamforce we will have a blockchain and cryptocurrency solution for Salesforce and for all of our customers,” he said. “I kind of see what it looks like and what it could be.”

Benioff explained that he became interested in the technology after a chance encounter in Switzerland, where he was attending the World Economic Forum. He crossed paths with an attendee at a parallel cryptocurrency conference who engaged him in a conversation. Benioff said that conversation led him to consider the ways his company could integrate the technology.

“I had been thinking a lot about what is Salesforce’s strategy around blockchain, and what is Salesforce’s strategies around cryptocurrencies, and how we relate to all of these things,” he said.

Salesforce is best-known for its cloud computing software for customer relationship management (CRM). Though its revenue comes from a CRM product, the company also sells commercial applications of social networking through acquisition and internal development. As of spring 2018, it is one of the most highly valued American cloud computing companies, with a market capitalization above $90 billion. In August 2017, it announced that the company had reached the $10 billion revenue run rate, becoming the first enterprise cloud company to do so.
