Link Media Partners (LMP) has teamed with the Estate of Ol’ Dirty Bastard to launch the ‘Dirty Coin’ (ODB).

Led by CEO Hakim Draper, Link Media Partners is a business development and marketing services firm for the music industry. It helps with everything from strategy to execution including marketing, publishing and merchandising. The goal of the company is to make services available and affordable to artists and businesses in their early stage and help thrive in the entertainment industry.

The Estate of Russell Jones, aka Ol’ Dirty Bastard, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the image of the legendary rapper, producer, husband, and father, who died in 2004.  ODB’s widow, Icelene Jones, and her team at Four Screens Production work tirelessly on this goal, securing hologram performances, merchandising deals, entertainment collaborations and more.

Ol’ Dirty Bastard was one of the founding members of the Wu-Tang Clan, a rap group primarily from Staten Island, New York which first rose to mainstream prominence with their 1993 debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). He was noted for his “outrageously profane, free-associative rhymes delivered in a distinctive half-rapped, half-sung style.”

The Dirty Coin will initially be used by the ODB Estate to fund projects for emerging hip hop talent Young Dirty (Barsun Jones), Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s son. LMP will work with Young Dirty develop his own music and infrastructure to produce and release music without a record label. Young Dirty is currently recording his first album, which is slated for a fall 2018 release. His projects will be announced pending the Initial Artist Offering (IAO) in the Summer 2018.

“My career has been spent helping artists build and own as much of their careers as possible, so it is an absolute honor to be partnered with Young Dirty and the ODB Estate as we discover and implement exciting new ways for artists to connect with, and empower, their fans,” said Draper.

Dirty Coin can also be used to purchase exclusive merchandise, and music from the former Wu Tang Clan rapper as well his progeny. It will go live on TAO Network and be traded on peer-to-peer trading and fund raising platform AltMarket, the exclusive cryptocurrency partner of LMP.

“Music thrives creatively and financially when it’s in the hands of the artist themselves,” said Bryce Weiner, CEO of AltMarket. “By removing the price tag of experimentation, we’re able to deliver for both the artist and their fans.”

“Bitcoin is the future of money and all the fans want a part of the future of Ol’ Dirty Bastard,” said Young Dirty. “In the past, Dad’s music was ahead of its time, so it makes sense that he would be ahead of the technology of money now.”
