Cryptocurrency Dash has teamed with cryptocurrency payment platform Bitnovo to allow consumers to purchase the cryptocurrency in more than 10,000 retailers throughout Spain. Dash is the eleventh-largest cryptocurrency by market cap after bitcoin. Dash’s market cap currently amounts to $9.6 billion USD.

Based out of the Spanish territory of Valencia, Bitnovo is a payment platform that offers a range of services to the cryptocurrency community. The platform, with a presence in over 130 countries, allows users to buy and sell bitcoin using bitcoin vouchers, bitcoin ATMs, and pre-paid cards. It also lets users buy small denomination cards anonymously.

With the partnership, Dash will now be available for purchase in thousands of stores through coupons, and in selected Carrefour and Media Markt outlets through the purchase of gift cards.

Fernando Gutierrez, Head of Legal at Dash, said that while cryptocurrencies are becoming more popular, the primary barrier to widespread adoption of digital assets remains the same.

“While there is incredible eagerness to enter this arena, the convoluted path to entry remains a significant roadblock for most interested parties,” said Gutierrez. “Creating a platform that is open and accessible to all has been a core value since our inception. Partnering with Bitnovo gives us the chance to make accessing our unmatched currency as easy as buying a loaf of bread in your local market.”

Luis Vaello, COO of Bitnovo, said they strongly believe in the power of innovation and the possibilities new technologies have to transform the world we live in. The partnership with Dash brings the company one step closer to bringing cryptocurrencies to the masses and drive the crypto-community forward.

“This exciting partnership not only showcases our eagerness to bring Dash to consumers throughout Spain, but our pledge to eliminate the barriers to entering the crypto community,” said Vaello.
