E-sports betting platform Unikrn has received a gambling license from the Maltese Gaming Authority. The company said the license will allow them to expand its skill and spectator betting applications across Europe.

Founded in 2014 by gaming industry veterans Rahul Sood and Karl Flores, Unikrn has offices in Berlin, Seattle, Sydney, and Las Vegas. Unikrn analyzes e-sports and data to deliver betting products across multiple countries around the world, and they also provide their users with the opportunity to win rewards.

Unikrn has established a substantial foothold in the gaming world, and now plans to expand into cryptocurrency wagering with UnikoinGold, an ethereum-based version of its existing coin, Unikoin. UnikoinGold will allow users to legally and fully engage in live betting with cryptocurrency.

The company recently raised $15 million in a token pre-sale whose customers included Mark Cuban, Brock Pierce, Blockchain Capital, Pantera Capital, and CoinCircle. The ongoing ICO, which started on September 22, has raised over $31 million USD in ethereum in over 112 countries and will end on October 22.

With its new Malta license, the company will now launch new European enterprise ‘Unikrn EU’, a joint venture with France-based RBP, a leading online gambling platform boasting over 300,000 registered users and 1 million unique monthly visitors. Unikrn EU will bring together the entire Unikrn e-sports platform, which includes skill and spectator betting applications, a tournament series, team ownership, a casino group and unique multimedia content.

“The European expansion means there’s going to be a large and soon-growing marketplace of users, including the real-money transition of already established users, who want to buy, exchange and use our token to bet on our platform,” said Unikrn CEO Rahul Sood.
