Add Japanese high-end fashion outlet Marui to the growing number of retailers that will accept bitcoin as payment.

The department store chain, which focuses on haute fashion for young adults, has stores in Tokyo and other big cities in Japan. It will begin a test of bitcoin payments at its Shinjuku Marui Annex in Tokyo starting next Monday through Oct. 31. If the pilot goes well, all 31 stores in the chain may be added.

Japan’s government officially made bitcoin legal tender status in June. Since then, many retail outlets have begun accepting the cryptocurrency in that country, making Japan the leading commercial hub for real-world bitcoin retail purchases.
