JP Morgan Chase’s Jamie Dimon: “I’m Not Going To Talk About Bitcoin Anymore”

The CEO of JPMorgan Chase has apparently learned about the wrath of the cryptocurrency industry. In a conference call with analysts, Jamie Dimon said he would no longer comment on bitcoin.

Dimon sparked a mini-meltdown on bitcoin prices a few weeks ago, claiming bitcoin was a “fraud” and that he would fire anyone trading it. A day later, it was revealed that JPMorgan Chase has filed a patent for its own cryptocurrency, leading to speculation on market manipulation by the savvy executive.

During a third-quarter earnings call with analysts, Dimon took a much less aggressive stance on bitcoin. “I wouldn’t put this high on the category of important things in the world, but I’m not going to talk about bitcoin anymore.”

There was one other bright note: JPMorgan chief financial officer Marianne Lake said during the call that JPMorgan Chase is “open-minded for digital currencies that are properly controlled and regulated.”
