New Hampshire Bitcoin Tax bill HB552 has been defeated in a vote held at the New Hampshire House of Representatives.

The New Hampshire House of Representatives voted 264 to 74 to kill the bill on 20th January – a move that came just over a year after the measure was first introduced.

The bill was filed by state representative Eric Schleien last year that would have allowed New Hampshire residents to pay their taxes and fees using bitcoin.

The voting result was taken positively by Schleien, who considered 74 votes as a good start. He said that he plans to submit a similar bill two years from now and would work with those legislators that did vote for the measure in the future.
