Financial consortium R3 is partnering with Intel to strengthen data privacy and security on its blockchain platform, Corda. The partnership was announced during the Intel Xeon Scalable Processor launch in New York.

The partnership will seek to incorporate the Xeon Scalable Processor’s security and privacy toolkit into Corda. Once completed, R3 members will be able to capitalize on a shared distributed ledger without worrying about regulators cracking down on them for failing to protect user privacy.

Mike Hearn, Lead Platform Engineer at R3, said that by partnering with Intel, they will be able to give Corda users more features. He explained that  transaction privacy is usually the top issue blocking real-world deployment. They will be developing new solutions to this problem by working with Intel.
