Bitcoin Exchange Executive Kidnapped in Ukraine

Pavel Lerner, the head of Analytics and Trading for UK-based bitcoin exchange EXMO, has reportedly been kidnapped in Ukraine.

According to local media reports, 40-year-old Lerner was kidnapped while leaving his office in Kiev’s Obolon district on December 26. He was dragged into a car by force and taken away to an unknown destination.

BitFlyer, Japan’s Largest Bitcoin Exchange, Now US Licensed

Tokyo-based bitcoin exchange bitFlyer has officially launched its operations in the United States.

The exchange has been approved to operate in 42 states, including a “BitLicense” from the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). bitFlyer is the fourth crypto company to obtain a BitLicense and the first exchange from overseas to do so.

Japan Agency Grants Digital Exchange License to Coincheck

Japan-based Coincheck has officially been certified to operate as a compliant digital currency exchange. The Financial Services Agency of Japan (FSA) has approved the application of Coincheck to obtain a license that allows it to operate in the country.

Coincheck’s registration approval follows the provisions of Article 63-3 of the country’s fund settlement law.
