Japanese Internet conglomerate GMO Internet has released an open source know-your-customer (KYC) software based on blockchain technology. The KYC software is part of the fifth phase of the GMO Blockchain Open Source Software Project (GMO Blockchain OSS).

GMO said the new KYC software reduces human and financial costs of identity verification through use of the blockchain.


Japan Agency Grants Digital Exchange License to Coincheck

Japan-based Coincheck has officially been certified to operate as a compliant digital currency exchange. The Financial Services Agency of Japan (FSA) has approved the application of Coincheck to obtain a license that allows it to operate in the country.

Coincheck’s registration approval follows the provisions of Article 63-3 of the country’s fund settlement law.
