Virtual reality blockchain project Decentraland had a successful start to its initial coin offering (ICO), raising $26.2 million in its first hour.
Decentraland is a virtual reality platform powered by the ethereum blockchain where users can create, experience, and monetize content and applications. Users claim ownership of virtual land on a blockchain ledger of parcels and can control what’s published, ranging from static scenes to games. Developer Manuel Aráoz, who built the document timestampting tool Proof of Existence, is a key member of the creators.
The ICO raised more than 86,000 ether and hit its cap in under an hour.
