Bitcoin Climbs Higher in Tuesday Trading, Setting Yet Another Record

Bitcoin continued to set new records, rising as high as $6,400 in single-coin pricing today on the Bitfinex exchange. This marks the second consecutive day legacy bitcoin (BTC) has set a new all-time high.

The rest of the cryptocurrency markets basically stood still today, with most within percentage points of Monday’s pricing. The good news was Bitcoin Cash holding at the $446 mark after its mysterious weekend surge forward.

The highest price seen was $6,424.80 on the Bitfinex exchange at 10:42 am today. Bitfinex saw $227,074,000 of bitcoin change hands.

The lowest price seen was $6,075.01 on BTCC’s exchange at 10:48 pm yesterday. BTCC’s 24 hour volume was $40,322,500.

The average price on the surveyed exchanges, as weighed by volume, was $6,209.25.

Volatility was a bit above average, with the BlockTribune Volatility Index coming in at 54.4. A higher number indicates greater price volatility with 50 describing an average day.

These statistics were consolidated from 8 different exchanges. It includes only BTC/USD trades and only on those exchanges that had at least 1% of the total volume of BTC/USD trades during the measurement period.
