Bitcoin Continues To Rise As Cryptocurrency Markets Show Solid Gains

Cryptocurrency prices are creeping back up, but the rally is a quiet one to date. Today showed green arrows for all of the top 20 digital currency coins, with most making gains from five to ten percent.

Bitcoin continued its rebound, climbing to $8,600 per single coin as of mid-morning. Ethereum’s ETH was up close to nine percent, now at $875, while Bitcoin Cash, after a massive uptick, slowed somewhat. Still, the coin was up close to five percent and now sits at $1,317.

The outlier this morning was Ripple XRP, which soared 24 percent after news of its new alliance with LianLian International for payments was announced.

The highest price seen was $8,737.93 on the Bitstamp exchange at 12:54 pm today. Bitstamp saw $182,906,000 of bitcoin change hands.

The lowest price seen was $7,770.74 on OKEx’s exchange at 12:24 am today. OKEx’s 24 hour volume was $260,027,000.

The average price on the surveyed exchanges, as weighed by volume, was $8,095.99.

Volatility was lower than average, with the BlockTribune Volatility Index coming in at 41.7. A higher number indicates greater price volatility with 50 describing an average day.

These statistics were consolidated from 11 different exchanges. It includes only BTC/USD trades and only on those exchanges that had at least 1% of the total volume of BTC/USD trades during the measurement period.
