Bitcoin Continues To Drop On US Holiday Weekend

No rest for the weary, particularly bitcoin, which continued on the downward slope despite lower volume on the US holiday weekend. The mid-morning price stood at $7,200 per single coin, a drop of nearly two percent.

The rest of the top ten coins continued in the red as well.

The highest price seen was $7,717.42 on the Simex exchange at 1:07 pm yesterday. Simex saw $20,157,200 of bitcoin change hands.

The lowest price seen was $6,951.65 on Simex’s exchange at 2:19 pm yesterday. Simex’s 24 hour volume was $20,157,200.

The average price on the surveyed exchanges, as weighed by volume, was $7,285.19.

Volatility was a bit lower than average, with the BlockTribune Volatility Index coming in at 45.2. A higher number indicates greater price volatility with 50 describing an average day.

These statistics were consolidated from 15 different exchanges. It includes only BTC/USD trades and only on those exchanges that had at least 1% of the total volume of BTC/USD trades during the measurement period.
