Bitcoin Non-profit BitGive To Provide Aid to Venezuela

Non-profit organization BitGive has teamed with the South American Initiative, a US-based non-profit organization that is providing large-scale humanitarian aid in Venezuela.

BitGive is the first bitcoin 501(c)(3) non-profit, giving it tax exemption status at the federal level in the US. BitGive is bridging the gap between an innovative technology and its practical applications for non-profits and humanitarian work in the developing world.

In its announcement, BitGive said that it worked with the South American Initiative to onboard three new projects to GiveTrack, BitGive’s flagship donation tracking platform.

The first project – Help Venezuelan Orphans – will support children who are abandoned by providing food, clothes, shoes, medications, toys, and clean drinking water to Venezuelan orphanages.

“We are helping to cover the basic needs of each orphaned child who temporarily lives in these places,” BitGive said. “Also, we are currently investing in agriculture and in building a greenhouse to plant vegetables and fruits to provide sustainable food for Venezuela orphanages across the country. A percentage of contributions goes towards these greenhouses.”

The second project – Help Abandoned Venezuelan Pets – will support animal shelters in Venezuela by providing high quality food, vitamins and supplements, flea and tick collars and more, and the third – Help Venezuelan Hospitals – will provide quality food and medicine for vulnerable adults and children in hospitals across Venezuela.

Connie Gallippi, Founder and Executive Director of BitGive, said that they’re really excited to onboard these new projects onto GiveTrack because they have the opportunity to make a real difference for a country in need.

“Our NGO partner has a tried-and-true reputation of uplifting individuals and rebuilding communities in South America through humanitarian aid,” Gallippi said. “Now, with GiveTrack, we’re able to showcase their work and commitment to the global Bitcoin community and hopefully inspire the community to donate to these worthy causes.”

BitGive also announced that GiveTrack is partnering with the Ukrainian Bone Marrow Donor Registry to launch a new project that will push transplantation of bone marrow in Ukraine, and will ensure the right of every person in Ukraine to receive such treatment in his own country.
