BitTorrent Live Streaming Service To Integrate Blockchain Technologybr>
BitTorrent, a peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing service that was acquired by blockchain startup TRON last year, is planning to incorporate blockchain technology into its new BitTorrent Live streaming service.
In its announcement, BitTorrent said that it has started offering early access to BitTorrent Live, which provides a social media platform for people to express their creativity and connect with others around the world through live video. Initially, users will be able to search for subjects that interest them, and then engage directly with the broadcasters to give instantaneous feedback and likes.
“Imagine chatting with your favorite athlete, becoming immersed in a music festival, or meeting new friends to share your passions – all by simply firing up the BitTorrent Live app,” said Justin Sun, CEO of BitTorrent. “Our strong foundation of decentralized technology will allow us to fulfill our vision of a boundary-free internet while being at the forefront of a new content experience.”
In the coming months, BitTorrent said that the new service will incorporate blockchain technology.
“We plan to integrate blockchain technology into the core of BitTorrent Live and return privacy and ownership while enabling a new payment option serving millions of users,” BitTorrent said.
