Blockchain analytics startup Elliptic has hired David MacLean as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Elliptic makes cryptocurrency transaction activity more transparent and accountable. The company believes that illicit activity in cryptocurrencies must be disrupted to stop criminals from undermining the ideals on which cryptocurrencies are built. Elliptic’s proprietary database delivers auditable proof of identity for millions of bitcoin and ethereum addresses across thousands of real world entities.
MacLean most recently was CFO for UK FinTech firm Revolut. According to his Linkedin profile, MacLean previously worked with the UK’s Metro Bank, insurance firms Sompo Canopius and Catlin, and Barclays Bank.
As Elliptic’s new CFO, MacLean will be responsible for ensuring that the finances of the company can enable it to continue to drive growth, capitalizing on the growing worldwide demand for its solutions. He will be tasked with finance functions including controllership, tax, internal audit, financial planning and analysis, treasury and investor relations.
“Dave is a seasoned leader who has experience in growing businesses into new markets, and will have an important role in shaping Elliptic’s future as it innovates in crypto blockchain analytics and establishes an Asia presence,” said Elliptic CEO Simone Maini.
