Blockchain Exchange Aurora Labs Adds NYSE Guru Richard Schaefferbr>
Aurora Labs S.A., a decentralized banking platform that includes the IDEX exhange, has named Richard Schaeffer to its advisory board. Schaeffer is a former chairman of NYMEX Holdings, Inc. and the New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. His advisory role is effective immediately.
Alex Wearn, CEO of Aurora Labs S.A. said Schaeffer’s leadership and experience in transitioning the NYMEX to a digital platform will be invaluable. “He shares our vision of a decentralized exchange, allowing users to trade directly from their own cryptocurrency wallets, as the next evolution in trading,” Wearn said.
IDEX is the first in a suite of decentralized financial products being developed by Aurora. It is the first real-time decentralized exchange and currently the #1 dApp in the world by daily users, transactions, and volume.
“The vision of the Aurora team in building out the IDEX platform has been remarkable,” said Schaeffer. “In my own experience, we saw a transition from traders in the pits circulating paper sheets and shouting orders to a fully-digital platform. Now we’re seeing the continued evolution with truly decentralized, peer-to-peer global trading on IDEX. I’m pleased to be working with Aurora as we continue to innovate and shatter barriers in our industry.”
Schaeffer oversaw the exchange’s listing and initial public offering (IPO) on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). He has served on the board of directors of the Norwegian Financial Derivatives Exchange and as the inaugural chief executive officer of the Green Exchange, an exchange for trading carbon-emission credits.
