Blockchain-based accommodation and hotel booking service Travala has teamed with the Litecoin Foundation to accelerate the use of cryptocurrency payments.

Travala is using blockchain technology to transform the future of the online travel industry. With a portfolio of over 567,928 properties across 210 countries and territories, spanning 82,311 destinations, Travala leverages on the token economy to deliver a more streamlined booking process and fairer pricing system for consumers and merchants alike.

Based in Singapore, the Litecoin Foundation aims to advance Litecoin (LTC), a cryptocurrency created by Charlie Lee in 2011, for the good of society by developing and promoting state-of-the-art blockchain technologies.

Travala and the Litecoin Foundation will kickstart the partnership with the #TravelWithLitecoin campaign, which encourages the Litecoin community to use LTC as a form of everyday payment wherever their journey may take them. The campaign will enable users to save up to 40% on hotel bookings through and Litecoin’s LoafWallet.

Matthew Luczynski, CEO and Founder of Travala, said that the goal of the partnership is to bring the mainstream use of cryptocurrencies into everyday life.

“With the token economy wielding its influence on the travel landscape, #TravelwithLitecoin is an excellent demonstration of how the industry is keeping abreast of the changing times, amid the rise of the 21st-century consumer,” said Luczynski. “Our partnership with Litecoin will enable a more inclusive and flexible travel experience for users, as they embrace the versatility of cryptocurrencies as a payment solution.”

As part of the partnership, Travala will also be the official accommodation partner for the upcoming Litecoin Summit, which will run from October 28-29. The two-day summit seeks to provide a platform for users, developers, and businesses interested in Litecoin and the overall industry.

“We are excited to work with to make it easier for Litecoin users to #TravelWithLitecoin,” said Charlie Lee, Managing Director of the Litecoin Foundation. “Nothing aids mass adoption more than real-world use cases, and the opportunity to use a global currency like Litecoin to travel around the world is a powerful one.”
