Blockchain Protocol GoChain Adds DISH Network As Node Signer On Public Blockchain

Blockchain protocol GoChain has added US television provider Dish Network as a signing node on its public blockchain network.

GoChain describes itself as a scalable, high performance, low cost, and decentralized cryptocurrency and blockchain that supports smart contracts and distributed applications. Key features of GoChain include native GO-20 tokens, which are ethereum compatible and claim speeds of 1300 transactions per second (TPS), with low gas fees achieved with three live nodes on mainnet. It also features a Proof of Reputation (PoR) consensus model that depends on the reputation of its participants to keep the network secure.

DISH Network, a pay-TV industry distributor, provides television entertainment and technology to millions of customers with its satellite DISH TV and streaming Sling TV services. DISH operates a national in-home installation workforce, as well as an advertising sales group delivering targeted advertising solutions on DISH TV and Sling TV.

GoChain said that its PoR consensus algorithm relies on “reputable” validators like DISH to sign blocks, and has several advantages over its predecessor, Proof of Work (PoW), which is used as the consensus algorithm for bitcoin and ethereum.

“The main benefits of PoR are that it’s faster, greener, and much more enterprise friendly,” GoChain said. “GoChain’s PoR is in excess of 1000 times greener than PoW. At scale, GoChain’s PoR validator network is designed to have 50 Enterprise companies signing blocks.”

DISH Chief Information Officer Atilla Tinic said that they decided to join GoChain’s public blockchain network because they are curious about new and interesting technology that may help them better deliver for their customers.
