Breadwallet launches bitcoin wallet on Android

Breadwallet announced the launch of its bitcoin wallet application on Android devices.

Breadwallet is a standalone client, meaning it uses bitcoin SPV to quickly download the blockchain for faster performance. It has historically only been available on iOS, however, back in May founder and CEO of Breadwallet Aaron Voisine wrote that the wallet will be coming to Android.

The bitcoin wallet, which is currently in open beta testing, is pre-release quality software “that should be used at your own risk.” Until the wide release users should only use the wallet for small amounts of currency.

Breadwallet is a San Francisco-based bitcoin company.
