China’s BTCC, the owner of the oldest bitcoin exchange in that country, has announced the launch of Mobi, a new global multicurrency wallet for Android and iOS.

Mobi claims to be the only mobile app to allow instant conversion, storage and transfer of money, with support to over 100 currencies, including the US dollar, the British Sterling pound, the Euro, gold, silver and bitcoin. It also enables users to send money to any Twitter account and phone number, as well as an optional Visa debit card. It is available for download for Android and iOS and has its own private blockchain as well as a link to the public bitcoin blockchain.

The app also allows instant in-app conversions to 150 currencies for no fee.

“Mobi is the only app that supports instant conversion, storage and transfer of 100+ currencies, so it can be used worldwide,” said BTCC CEO Bobby Lee. He compared the product’s capabilities to AliPay and WeChat,  which he claimed only supports CNY and can only be used in China. “With Mobi you can send any form of money to anyone, anywhere. Mobi eliminates friction in money transfers, making money truly global.” .

The Mobi app is accessible worldwide with support for 15 languages, including English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
