Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has received ISO27001 accreditation, certified by the DNV & UKAS, two world-renowned international accreditation bodies.

ISO27001 is universally recognized as a benchmark for good security practice issued by International Security of Organization (ISO). It also supports compliance with European Union legislation, including data protection law, EU GDPR, and NIS cybersecurity regulations.

Binance claims that it is the first company in the crypto industry to be verified by DNV and UKAS. To obtain the certification, the exchange has reportedly passed the examination of 114 criteria across 14 categories, including security policy, asset management, operation security, and information systems acquisition, development and maintenance.

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao said that security has always been the utmost priority for Binance and their users, and they are honored that Binance’s security management is recognized by the respected DNV and UKAS.

“We appreciate the great amount of trust that our users have placed in us,” Zhao said. “We are committed to continuously securing our users’ information and assets by further strengthening our security system. Obtaining the ISO certification is one significant aspect of our security commitment to the industry and our community. We will continue to advance our investment and endeavours in improving cyber security defense.”
