Crypto Markets Rise Like A Balloon To Start The Weekbr>
The cryptocurrency markets stirred awake to start the work week, as the top ten coins showed upward movement nearly across the board.
At mid-morning bitcoin was at the $6,600 level, a slight gain from last week’s closing that continued momentum built on the weekend, when it rose as high as $6,800 on at least one exchange.
Ethereum was at $228, up two percent and seemingly unaffected by news that its leading developer, Vitalik Buterin, is moving away from the project. Other coins had gains of two to near four percent, as market momentum trended up.

The highest price seen was $6,834.72 on the Cryptonex exchange at 8:43 am today. Cryptonex saw $32,789,067 of bitcoin change hands.
The lowest price seen was $6,384.66 on Cryptonex’s exchange at 1:01 pm yesterday. Cryptonex’s 24 hour volume was $32,789,067.
The average price on the surveyed exchanges, as weighed by volume, was $6,591.15.
Volatility was a bit lower than average, with the BlockTribune Volatility Index coming in at 46.9. A higher number indicates greater price volatility with 50 describing an average day.
These statistics were consolidated from 24 different exchanges. It includes only BTC/USD trades and only on those exchanges that had at least 1% of the total volume of BTC/USD trades during the measurement period.
