Cryptocurrency Markets Edging Up In Light Weekend Trading

The cryptocurrency markets edged up over the last 24 hours, a good sign heading into the start of the work week.

In early trading, bitcoin was up more than one percent on extremely light volume, setting the pace for the rest of the top ten coins. So far, most are in green arrows, with Monero gaining more than two percent and Bitcoin Cash and EOS near that mark.

The outlier so far is Stellar, down a few tenths after a strong week of gains.

The highest price seen was $6,779.07 on the Cryptonex exchange at 11:01 am today. Cryptonex saw $40,914,607 of bitcoin change hands.

The lowest price seen was $6,317.27 on Simex’s exchange at 4:19 pm yesterday. Simex’s 24 hour volume was $58,180,210.

The average price on the surveyed exchanges, as weighed by volume, was $6,489.22.

Volatility was a bit lower than average, with the BlockTribune Volatility Index coming in at 49.7. A higher number indicates greater price volatility with 50 describing an average day.

These statistics were consolidated from 24 different exchanges. It includes only BTC/USD trades and only on those exchanges that had at least 1% of the total volume of BTC/USD trades during the measurement period.
