EOS Blockchain Developer Block.one Purchased Voice.com Domain Name For $30M USDbr>
Block.one, the developer of the EOS blockchain, has paid $30 million to purchase a domain name for its recently announced blockchain-based social media platform, called “Voice.”
Voice, which will be deployed on the EOS Public Blockchain, is designed to provide more transparency than traditional social media platforms. The platform will encourage creation, sharing, discovery and promotion of content on social media platforms by real users, not bots and fake accounts.
MicroStrategy, a worldwide provider of enterprise analytics and mobility software, announced in a press release that it has sold the Voice.com domain name for $30 million in cash in a transaction facilitated by GoDaddy and consummated on May 30.
Marge Breya, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of MicroStrategy, said that Block.one has made a smart strategic decision in choosing Voice.com to be the Internet domain name for its new social media platform.
“The word ‘voice’ is simple and universally understood,” Breya said. “It’s also ubiquitous ― as a search term, it returns billions of results on the Internet. An ultra-premium domain name like Voice.com can help a company achieve instant brand recognition, ignite a business, and massively accelerate value creation.”
