Esports Mogul, a sports media and software company, has appointed Jamie Skella as chief strategy and commercial officer.

Skella will lead business operations, strategy and oversee technology in the newly created role. This will encompass go-to-market and commercialization opportunities, as well as spearheading software and technology development.

Skella brings extensive experience in building software as both an entrepreneur and technologist. He held senior management roles at Tatts Group and the Australian Football League, and has been an adviser and founder of multiple technology businesses.

Skella has a strong background in blockchain and won the World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer award last year.

“The alignment between Mogul’s business and Jamie’s breadth of experience in eSports, digital product, and early stage business, couldn’t be a more perfect fit,” company managing director Gernot Abl said.“Regarded as one of the country’s brightest minds in product, his arrival is one that will deliver incredible value to all corners of the operation and help realise our enormous potential.”

As a passionate esports advocate and having previously played for Australia’s best Counter-Strike team, Skella has operated national eSports events and counts himself a shareholder in Australia’s first dedicated eSports bar, based in Melbourne.
