Ethereum Surpasses Ripple’s XRP As Second-Largest Cryptocurrencybr>
Most of the top ten coins are trading in the green today. After trading as low as $3,707 yesterday, bitcoin has scaled back above the $3,800 level.
Ether’s price is gaining bullish momentum, surpassing Ripple’s XRP as the second-largest coin by market cap. In early trading, ether was up nearly ten percent and is trading at $149.
The price increase is being driven by the pending hard fork in ethereum, with the update set for January 16. The split will see miner rewards fall from three ether to two and decrease the block time, making the network faster.
