European Commission Seeks Blockchain for Industry

The European Commission has started a new blockchain research project that will seek non-financial applications of the technology.

The EC’s “#Blockchain4EU: Blockchain for Industrial Transformations” study will continue through February, 2018 under the purview of the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs ,and the Joint Research Centre.

The goal will be to find non-financial ways that blockchain can benefit industry. The project will be directed by the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs and the Joint Research Centre.

Two months ago, the EC instituted a pilot project to broaden blockchain knowledge among its members.
