Fidelity Joins Blockchain Consortium

Fidelity Investments Inc. has added its Fidelity Labs to the Initiative for CryptoCurrencies & Contracts, a blockchain technology group featuring schools and technology companies. It is the first financial institution to join the research consortium.

The fund management firm joins Cornell, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University of California at Berkeley, IBM, Intel, and Technion.

 “What IC3 brings is that academic computer science legacy that can help us explore how this technology can be applied,” said Hadley Stern, senior vice president at Fidelity Labs. to Reuters.

The IC3 consortium is based at the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute at Cornell Tech in New York City.
