How NFT Platform Voice is Working to Close the Gender Gap in NFTs with Newest Residency

Today, women remain significantly underrepresented and undervalued in museums, galleries, and auction houses. According to a survey of the permanent collections of 18 prominent U.S. art museums, the represented artists consist of 87% male and 85% white (source). Furthermore, female artists represent just 2% of the market (source) and on average, earn 74¢ for every dollar made by male artists (source).

To change the ratio and empower emerging female NFT creators, Voice, the NFT platform for creators, is partnering with Women Rise, an NFT collection from Maliha Abidi that represents women from around the world, to create a new artist Residency Program to support women creators.

The program, Voice x Women Rise, is dedicated to supporting women creators from underrepresented and marginalized communities. As a Resident, creators will transform a body of work into an NFT collection that will cover themes that connect each creator to the world’s most pertinent topics: equity & justice, clean planet, future-proof, and well-being.

Applications for Voice x Women Rise can be submitted here until May 7.
