Litecoin Foundation To Sponsor UFC 232: Jones v Gustafsson 2br>
The Litecoin Foundation will be sponsoring an event of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), an American mixed martial arts organization based in Las Vegas.
In a blog post, the foundation announced that Litecoin (LTC) will be the “Official Cryptocurrency Partner of UFC 232,” which features the highly anticipated main event rematch between former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones against UFC light heavyweight Alexander Gustafsson. The event is set for December 29 at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
During the event, the Litecoin logo will be displayed on the Octagon’s canvas, giving LTC global awareness that can spark interest and drive engagement with people from all walks of life who may have never heard of Litecoin or cryptocurrency before.
The foundation said that the UFC partnership is part of its effort to expand the adoption of cryptocurrencies.
“Throughout the past year, Litecoin and the Litecoin Foundation have had the opportunity to partner with some great companies and brands. While we will continue to explore these opportunities in 2019, there are several reasons why we think it makes sense for Litecoin to step into UFC’s world-famous Octagon now. We view this sponsorship as the first step to what will hopefully be a long and fruitful relationship with UFC. We look forward to the possibility of doing some amazing things with this incredible organization.”
Released in 2011 by former Coinbase engineering director Charlie Lee, Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency and open-source software project. Litecoin was an early bitcoin spinoff or altcoin. While bitcoin was seen as “gold” and a store of value for long-term purposes, Litecoin was seen as “silver” and a means of a transaction for cheaper and everyday purposes.
