Online Bank Swissquote Appoints Chris Thomas As Head Of Digital Assets

Switzerland-based Swissquote Bank SA has appointed Chris Thomas as its new Head of Digital Assets.

Swissquote, a member of the Swiss Bankers Association, is a banking group specializing in the provision of online financial and trading services. It offers services designed specifically for asset managers and corporate clients. The bank also offers an electronic asset management tool, ePrivate Banking, as well as traditional banking services, including mortgages, savings accounts and more specialized transactions, such as currency trading (eForex).

In July 2017, Swissquote enabled private clients to invest in cryptocurrencies. Now it will open the segment to institutional clients, who will get the opportunity to enter into professional crypto-trading and custody, to drive their digital asset business forward.

With 20 years of professional experience in the financial industry, Thomas has previously worked in in sales and trading for European banks in London and Geneva, such as UBS, Societe Generale and BNP Parisbas. Thomas was also head of European innovation at Fidelity Investments. He also founded a number of firms including Infinite Alpha, an institutional crypto-asset custodian, TawiPay.com (now Monito), a comparison website for international money transfer services, and BlackHouse Private Equity.

As Swissquote’s Head of Digital Assets, Thomas will focus on expanding the institutional product range and offer services to asset managers, hedge funds, private banks and family offices.
