Opera Browser Brings Crypto Wallet Functionality To iOS Devices

Web browser Opera has announced that its crypto wallet feature will soon be available on iOS devices.

In December 2018, Opera introduced the crypto wallet to the Opera browser for Android. The built-in crypto wallet allows users to make online payments with cryptocurrency where merchants support exists.

In its latest announcement, Opera said that it will soon launch Opera Touch for iOS, a Web 3 browser that combines easy-to-use crypto wallet functionality with support for ethereum decentralized apps (Dapps).

“iOS users around the globe will soon gain access to a beautifully-designed, full-featured browser with an integrated native Crypto Wallet and Web 3 browsing functionalities,” Opera said. “We have decided to open Opera Touch for iOS to Web 3 after the success of our crypto wallet and Dapp explorer in Opera for Android.”

Opera said that introducing Web 3 functionalities to their iOS browser marks a further step in its plan to remove hurdles preventing mainstream Web 3 adoption.

“We identified the biggest challenge to be the lack of easy-to-use solutions for crypto,” the company said. “Users were forced to install separate wallet apps which didn’t include full-featured browsers. Setting up such wallets was difficult and browsing the Web with a wallet app is burdensome. We removed this hurdle by integrating an easy-to-use wallet into our Android browser. Now, we are delivering this seamless experience to iOS users.”
