PayPal Adds XAPO CEO Wences Casares To Board of Directors

PayPal has added Xapo CEO Wences Casares to its board of directors. The leader of the bitcoin startup was touted as helping the payments giant with its forward progress, although crypto was not specifically mentioned.

Casares is the founder of digital wallet firm Lemon Inc, which was acquired by LifeLock in 2013. Casares then founded bitcoin security firm Xapo, which has raised more than $40m in two public funding rounds.

Dan Schulman, president and CEO of PayPal, said the new board member would bring a “unique line of sight into the future of commerce is ideally aligned with PayPal’s vision of transforming the management and movement of money for people around the globe.”

Casares will join PayPal’s Compensation Committee.
