Purse announces partnership with Indian bitcoin startup Unocoin

Purse and Unocoin are encouraging bitcoin payments in India with huge Amazon discounts between 5% and 22% using Purse’s ‘Name Your Discount Program’.

Users that are already using Unocoin, an India-based exchange, to purchase bitcoin are already set to receive discounts on food, clothes and electronics.

Purse leverages unspent gift card liquidity to provide Amazon discounts. The platform matches buyers with individuals who have illiquid gift card balances, then orders items at a discounted rate. The card holders receive bitcoin, which they can then exchange for rupees using Unocoin.

“We match you with individuals with illiquid gift card balances, and they order your items at your proposed discount. In return, they receive bitcoin at the end of their transaction and they are then able to spend their money easily or exchange their bitcoin for rupees on sites like Unocoin,” said Purse.

Purse is a San Francisco-based peer-to-peer service provider that connects users across the globe through decentralized commerce.
