Samsung SDS, the Internet technology solutions unit of Samsung Group, has released the next version of its enterprise blockchain platform.

Samsung SDS provides information technology services, including consulting services, technical services and outsourcing services, and operates 11 offices and data centers in 11 countries. In 2017, the firm developed its enterprise blockchain platform Nexledger, which allows companies to provide various transactional services. The platform has been implemented in various fields, such as finance, manufacturing, logistics, and the public sector.

In its latest announcement, Samsung SDS said that the next version of its blockchain platform, called Nexledger Universal, provides standard application programming interface (API) that is commonly applicable to Samsung SDS NCA (Nexledger Consensus Algorithm) and general blockchain, such as Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum.

Nexledger Universal, which is now available as platform as a service (PaaS) in the Microsoft’s Azure marketplace, will reportedly allow customers to develop application services, such as user authentication, payment settlement, and proof of originality using only one of three technologies and can easily apply to other technologies.

“Nexledger Universal provides faster performance compared to the previous version and has improved security functions by applying white box cryptography technology,” Samsung said. With Nexledger Universal, customers can reduce the time and resources required for securing blockchain developers and verifying the technology, therefore, business innovation through blockchain technology can be achieved conveniently.”

Jeanie Hong, senior vice president, leader of Blockchain Center of Samsung SDS, said that they are planning to expand their cloud-based blockchain platform by registering Nexledger Universal on other cloud marketplaces.
