Decentralized cloud storage service Storj Labs has teamed with secure document-sharing service provider CapLinked to host confidential business documents and transactions using blockchain.

Created in early 2014, Storj is an open source project that aims to offer a completely decentralized, secure, and efficient cloud storage service. Storj aims to revolutionize the traditional cloud storage industry by marrying blockchain security with sharing economy economics.

CapLinked serves as a central platform for enterprises and outside collaborators to come together and share sensitive information easily and securely. CapLinked’s platform provides companies with tools for capital raises, asset sales, mergers & acquisitions, real estate deals, investor & board reporting, business development negotiations, and other types of complex business transactions.

Under the partnership, CapLinked will offer its clients the option to leverage a decentralized peer-to-peer network to store files. Storj’s developer community will also be able to use CapLinked’s sophisticated file permission and security features when building custom applications.

CapLinked users setting up virtual data rooms, sharing data, and working on other multi-company projects will be able to choose the option to store their files in Storj’s decentralized platform. CapLinked will also make its permission controls and digital rights management (DRM) tools available to the developer community building applications on top of Storj’s technology.

CapLinked is also releasing an open-source NodeJS (javascript) module that applies customized watermarks to files stored on the Storj network.

CapLinked CEO Eric M. Jackson said decentralized and blockchain-based technology has the potential to make business software faster, safer, and more reliable.

“We’re excited to offer CapLinked’s permission controls and security features to developers who are building applications on top of Storj’s platform,” said Jackson. “We also look forward to offering Storj’s decentralized solution as an upcoming storage option for CapLinked’s customers.”

Storj Labs co-founder and chief revenue officer John Quinn said Storj’s decentralized network will provide CapLinked’s customers the peace of mind needed to secure the most sensitive data.

“Encryption and decentralization are an excellent combination that ensure data can only be accessed by file owners and those they give permission,” said Quinn. “We are happy to welcome CapLinked users to the growing Storj community.”
