Blockchain Trade Association Formed In Gibraltar

Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar has formed a new trade association that will aim to drive forward the country’s innovative approach to distributed ledger technology (DLT).

Called Gibraltar Association for New Technologies (GANT), the new association will promote high standards of professional conduct within the blockchain sector in Gibraltar as well as further the reputation of the jurisdiction’s finance industry on the international stage.

Distributed Ledger Bill Approved By Gibraltar Parliament

The Gibraltar Parliament has approved a bill that advances the island’s effort to introduce a distributed ledger technology (DLT) framework, which will come into effect next year.

In October, Minister of Commerce Albert Isola presented the bill in an effort to place the island at the forefront of regulation in a burgeoning technology-driven sector of the global financial services industry.
