European Financial Watchdog Restricts Leverage On Crypto Derivatives

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), EU’s financial regulatory institution and European supervisory authority, said it will place restrictions on the marketing, distribution or sale of crypto-related contracts for difference (CFD).

In an announcement Tuesday, the ESMA said it has decided to temporarily adjust the leverage limit for crypto-related CFDs products to 2:1.

Cryptocurrency Derivatives Targeted By European Securities Regulator

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) is considering possible restrictions on cryptocurrency derivatives as part of a broader crackdown on risky financial products.

ESMA announced the beginning of a consultation period to look into how cryptocurrency contracts for differences (CFD) would comply with their Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MFID) regulatory framework.

European Financial Watchdog ESMA Warns ICO Investors, Companies
