SEC Sues Kik Interactive For Conducting $100M USD Unregistered ICO

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has sued social media company Kik Interactive for conducting a $100 million initial coin offering (ICO) in 2017, which the regulator deemed as an unregistered security issuance.

In its complaint, the SEC charges that Kik sold its Kin tokens to US investors without registering their offer and sale as required by the US securities laws.

Kik Messenger, Unity Technologies Partner To Bring Cryptocurrency To Game Developers

Canadian mobile messaging app Kik is partnering with game engine creator Unity Technologies to enable game developers to use Kik’s Kin cryptocurrency to reward players.

Kik, which was founded in 2009 by University of Waterloo students, recently said that it will deploy its Kin token on multiple blockchains to enhance liquidity and efficiency within its ecosystem.
