WikiLeaks is now accepting donations in the privacy-oriented digital currency Zcash.

WikiLeaks is an international non-profit organization that publishes secret information, news leaks, and classified media provided by anonymous sources.

The secret-spilling group has been accepting digital currencies since 2011. Zcash is the third digital currency it will accept for donations, following bitcoin and Litecoin. To date, Wikileaks’ bitcoin wallet has received more than 26,000 transactions.

The non-profit organization recently polled the public about implementing additional digital cash systems. The poll revealed strong support for ethereum, which captured nearly half the backing of voters. Other digital currencies received 23 percent support included Monero (21 percent) and Zcash, which represented 11 percent of voters’ opinions.

Zcash is a cryptocurrency that offers privacy and selective transparency of transactions. Zcash uses zero-knowledge proofs to prove the integrity of digital currency transactions without revealing any information about the sender, recipient, or the assets that are being transferred.
