Microsoft announced its plans to add support for bitcoin in Excel for both mobile and desktop versions.

Martin Butler, account executive at Microsoft, made the announcement in an online post. In particular, Butler listed five features due to arrive sometime in 2017, which, among others, includes support for digital currency bitcoin.

“In 2017, Excel will be able to recognize, format, calculate and analyze numbers expressed in bitcoin currency. The new feature will be available for Excel running under Windows 10, Android, Mac OS and iOS, and will include Excel Mobile versions as well,” Butler said.

In addition to bitcoin support, other features to be released this year include real-time transcription and translation of Skype Meeting Broadcast, conditional access policies for locations and apps, new data gathering and shaping capabilities for Excel, and OneNote improvements for classroom and collaboration.
